We have worked with the travel sector for many years and are delighted to have been able to work with employers on the development and now delivery of the travel consultant apprenticeship standard.

Lee Clements | Quality Manager

We are proud to be working with some of the country's leading companies in the travel sector to develop a new "trailblazer" apprenticeship for travel consultants. The development of the new qualification was officially launched by the Skills Minister, Matthew Hancock MP in February 2014.

Damar's involvement in the project stems from our longstanding relationship with the business travel sector and partnership work that we have undertaken with the Guild of Travel Management Companies – the UK's leading body for travel management companies.

The travel sector is expanding post-recession and many firms are experiencing skills shortages. This project is about attracting, developing and retaining a new generation of travel consultants who can support the needs of corporate and public sector clients. The work undertaken by business travel consultants is incredibly diverse – from safeguarding an undercover reporter's identity when booking their travel arrangements to moving a film crew around the world to their set locations.

The employer group supporting the project is led by organisations including BCD Travel, Capita Travel & Events, Hillgate Travel, Giles Travel, The Co-operative Travel Management, CTI, Horncastle Executive Travel Ltd, PGL, Eurocamp, Spa Travel and ABTA. If your business is interested in being involved please call Jonathan Bourne, our Managing Director on 0161 480 8171 or email There is more about the project on the GTMC's website at
